Jorge Prado Fails Sound Test, Docked Three Championship Points Post Anaheim 1

Following the Anaheim 1 450 main event on Saturday night, the SuperMotocross League announced that Red Bull KTM’s Jorge Prado was docked three championship points for failing post-race sound check.

After a disastrous first year full-time in the U.S. with Monster Energy Kawasaki, the multi-time World Champion return to KTM this off-season and looked like a brand-new rider at the opening round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross on Saturday. The Spaniard raced to his first career podium with a third place finish behind teammate Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen

“This is really ahead of my expectations – the goal for this weekend was to just get through each session and do the best that I can,” he said post-race. “I had a great preparation leading into this year, but I am still so new to Supercross. Getting the Heat Race win was awesome, but I am really happy with my Main Event and to be on the podium. I rode within my limits, and still don’t have a lot of words to describe my feelings right now, but all I can say is that hard work always pays off! It’s great to start the season this way, so now we’ll keep learning and look forward to a new opportunity next week.”

Prado will keep his third place finish but will drop three championship points, going from 20 to 17 and dropping him to a tie for fourth in points with Jason Anderson
