Jett Lawrence Starts a New Streak with the Thunder Valley Overall Win

A lot of questions were surrounding HRC Honda’s Jett Lawrence entering Thunder Valley after his huge crash at Hangtown last week.

The only information or update that WE had been given was that Jettson had a chunk out of his leg. We waited all week for more news, we knew he’d be lining up, but we weren’t exactly sure on his health. In hindsight, Jett probably didn’t know either.

In the press conference, Jett said that a lot of his success was due to the magic hands of Doc G, who helped bring him back to life throughout the week and his brother even had to comment and say that “You saw him ride, he’s fine”.

It turned out that he wasn’t the same Jett at Thunder Valley, but he made the necessary moves to move forward and by the end of the day he went 2-1 for the overall win.

It was a rough one last weekend, for sure, but during the week we like to call it a stiff kitty throughout the week in therapy,” Jett said.

So, it was more of a case of Jett being really sore for the race day, leading to him not being 100%. Thankfully for him he’s no longer a stiff kitty and he was able to track down Justin Cooper and Hunter to get the second Moto win for the overall on the day.

“The second one more-so as my legs were already shot, so I was doing a bit of lazy riding at first,” Jett said. “Just any outside that was flat I was just sitting bouncing around on the bumps a bit. I knew I had to keep Hunter close because he was right there in front of me. I just knew that I had to stay there. Hunter made a small mistake and he relaxed in that section and I was able to get him there. I’m like I’ve got to get Justin because otherwise Hunter’s going to get me back, so I sprinted. I ended up getting Justin with a few laps to go.”

The 450 class today was a bit of the changing of the guard with two class rookies and a 20-year-old sophomore leading the way. High Point is up next and the plot has thickened. We don’t know how the rest of the season is going to go.

One thing that we do hope for is that Jett no longer uses the reference “stiff kitty” ever again…
