James Stewart Is Now a Team Owner in the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup

James Stewart is now a team owner! Yes, for real.

Stew won’t be starting a Supercross/Motocross team, though. Nope, the two-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion will be joining the fully electric racing series FIM E-Xplorer World Cup by securing one of 12 available team spots with his private team Seven Racing.

“Throughout my entire career I have seen many big changes in motorcycle racing and I am extremely proud to have been a part of some of them,” Stewart said in a press release. “I believe the future of the sport is inevitably electric and I’m excited to be there from the start with E-Explorer”

According to the FIM, Seven Racing have signed a multi-year deal and assured a space in the brand-new championship FIM E-Xplorer World Cup in its inaugural year. Stewart will also serve as an ambassador for the series, according to the announcement

Last July, the FIM announced that beginning in 2022, they are launching a new all-electric off-road motorcycle series called E-Xplorer. The series will feature five events staged worldwide featuring a mix of time trials and head-to-head races.

The series will be comprised of 12 teams with mandatory male and female participants. All competitors will race on two-wheel off-road motorcycles propelled by a single 100% electric motor with a maximum weight of 130kg.
