Jalek Swoll on Leading, Black Flag: “Hero to zero would describe the weekend”

Since his quick return from a torn Achilles that cost him the entire Monster Energy AMA Supercross season, Triumph Racing’s Jalek Swoll has been a bright spot for the British manufacturer in just its second season.

After finishing 10th in his return at High Point, Swoll want to the sands of Southwick and took an 11th. The following round at ReBud, Swoll found the podium with a second overall and followed it up with a 9th at Spring Creek.

Despite riding through a torn UCL in his thumb, which has effected his training during the week, Swoll had been building confidence heading into round 9 at Washougal on Saturday. And it showed. Swoll grabbed the holeshot in the first 250 moto but went down early in the race. While he was slow to get up and appeared he might have hit his head, he continued to rejoin the race until race officials black flagged him out of medical concerns. Swoll did not race the second moto.

On Sunday, Swoll took to his personal Instagram to provide an update but he did not provide further details on the reasoning why he was black flagged or if he sustained any injuries.

“Hero to Zero would describe the weekend lol, I tried to dust myself off and continue but ultimately was black flagged and told I was done for the day, it is what it is….. won’t be the last time I put myself up front this year, so I won’t be too down bad about it ill just actually take advantage of it next time 😂

“I’ve been very proud of the effort myself and the team have put in to come back to racing this year, just very grateful to be able to have these flashes and moments that are spiking my confidence in a positive way….. We expected to have all the ups and downs racing can throw at you, for the building of what my potential is for next year so it’s all apart of the process and enjoying the good and the bad through it.”
