Due to ongoing health issues, Red Bull KTM’s Aaron Plessinger will miss the upcoming three-round SuperMotocross Playoffs, the team announced on Wednesday.

Health issues had the 29-year-old throughout much of the Pro Motocross Championship. Ultimately, Plessinger decided to sit out the final four rounds in a bid to get healthy for the Playoffs.

At the time of his announcement that he would miss the final four rounds, AP said that his “Cortisol levels are still really low” and that his doctors have advised  him to sit out the remainder of the season.

“Unfortunately, getting to the bottom of my health issues is taking longer than I had hoped. My Cortisol levels are still really low and not back to where I was hoping they would be by now, so under my doctor’s advice I’m going to sit out the remainder of the MX series. It’s frustrating given I was riding the best I have ridden in my career this season, but going from leading motos to DNFs is not healthy for me and I don’t think it’s what the fans or my team deserve either. I’m getting older and it’s just time for me to do some deep-diving into my health and get to the bottom of it. I’m not the first guy to go through it, so I have received a lot of positive feedback and support from my peers, and I will figure this out – it’s just something that is taking a bit longer than I had hoped. I’m already missing seeing the fans and my team every weekend, so you better believe I will be back real soon!”

After finishing sixth in the 450SX standings in Monster Energy Supercross, Plessinger finished eighth overall in Pro Motocross despite missing the last four rounds. Plessinger sat eighth in SMX points entering the Playoffs opener this Saturday in Charlotte, NC.

“Unfortunate news, but as much as I would like to race these next few races in SMX, what I’ve been dealing with is taking a little bit longer than expected to come back around, so I’m sitting these next three out,” said AP. “I will be at Charlotte though, signing autographs and hanging out so come and see me, but as far as training and racing goes, I will be getting ready for 2026 once I am back on the bike. For myself and also my health heading into next season, this is the best move. I just wanted to say good luck to all my team and all of my teammates – go get ’em, boys!”

“As much as we love having Aaron at the races every weekend, recovery is the top priority and although he is on the mend he is still not one 100 percent just yet,” said team manager Ian Harrison. “With that, he will miss the three SMX rounds, but all is not lost for his race fans as The Cowboy will be in Charlotte this weekend to meet with fans and cheer on his teammates.”
