This sport can be brutal. One week after a career ride in Foxborough, where he claimed his first career podium, Gage Linville was injured in qualifying at the 250SX East/West Showdown in Philadelphia on Saturday after he came up short on the second triple in the rhythm section.
During the session, Linville crashed hard and the session was red flagged as the Alpinestars medical crew tended to him and helped him off the track and onto a medical cart. He was later taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The Dirt Bike Depot WMR KTM team provide an update on Instagram stating that Linville sustained a concussion in the crash, bruising to his shoulder and lungs, and a small fracture in his back.
“We are happy to report that Team Rider @gage402 was discharged from the hospital last night around 9pm after a lengthy evaluation and examination to check the severity of Gages injuries. Apart from a pretty gnarly concussion, Gage suffered bruising to his shoulder and lungs, as well as a small fracture in his back. He will follow up with some specialists this upcoming week to create a timeline for his recovery. The ups and downs of this sport are pretty tough, but we’re relieved that Gages injuries are nothing worse than reported! Prep for the @promotocross series will begin for Gage in a few weeks once back to 100% 💪🏼”
Linville, who is currently 14th in the 250SX East Division points standings, also provided an update on his IG.
“Man the sport can be brutal! Felt good throughout the day and was looking to have a good night. Thankfully it’s no worse than it is. Ended up with a concussion, broken rib, bruised lung, super bruised shoulder, and a fracture in my back. Gonna take some time off to let everything heal the right way and will have an update later in the week on the next steps! Huge shoutout to the team and everybody who checked in on me!”
