When it was announced that current Monster Energy AMA Supercross Champion Eli Tomac was re-signing with Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing for 2023, there was some rumors that it might be a Supercross-only deal as the press releases stated: “will return with the Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing squad for the 2023 supercross season.”
Well, in the latest Beyond the Gate video from Yamaha, Tomac does confirm that his new deal is Supercross-only.
“So what’s next for Eli Tomac, is I’m signing Supercross-only for 2023,” he said.
This is a pretty big deal, seeing as Tomac is a three-time AMA Pro Motocross 450 Class Champion (2019, 2018, 2017) and 250 Class Champion (2013).
Obviously things can change between now and next Pro Motocross season, but this is pretty big news.
