We are down 11 rounds! The Monster Energy Supercross Championship heads to Foxborough this weekend, so in this edition of Most Likely, we examine some things like: Is this a must-win for Sexton? Who is the East title favorite? And much more.

Read on…

Is Chase Sexton in a must-win situation this weekend?

Slaw: Ehh… not yet, but that will only apply to this round. Let’s say Cooper Webb wins this weekend and Sexton finishes second. That would give Webb a 14-point lead with just five rounds to go. Without the likes of Eli Tomac and Jett Lawrence in the mix to get between Webb and Sexton, that’s a hefty lead heading into the stretch run. Wait, did I just talk myself into this being a must-win? I think I did. Shit.

Wes: I just have to say yes. You are NOT GOING TO BREAK COOPER WEBB WITHOUT WINNING. Watching the Seattle race last weekend with the Vurb crew, everyone kept saying, “No way Webb is going to do this!” And I just kept thinking, “You boys do realize this is Cooper freakin’ Webb, right?” Sure enough, he pulls out the victory and stretches the points lead. He’s a master at this, and now that a third Monster Energy Supercross Championship is within sight, there is ZERO backing down.

The 250SX East Division is back. Who’s most likely to win this title?

Slaw: Max Anstie is out for the rest of Supercross, so this will be a three-horse race between Tom Vialle, RJ Hampshire and Seth Hammaker. Vialle holds a 10-point lead over RJ and is 13 clear of Hammaker with five rounds left. The caveat? There are still two East/West Showdowns left (Philadelphia and Salt Lake City) which could provide massive point swings. I’m not confident in any pick, but I’m going RJ as of today. That could change tomorrow, and I will not be held responsible. Don’t @ me on socials.

Wes: I just can’t bet against the East Coast reigning champion. I love RJ and I love the 2016 King of the Classic, Seth Hammaker, as well. But if we are throwing down dollars, kinda have to roll with the dude who has the #1 on his bike.

Is Dylan Ferrandis most likely to continue his recent form?

Slaw: People forget this dude won a Pro Motocross title as a rookie. Now that he’s getting more parts from Honda HRC, I don’t see why not. DF is a solid ass rider and should get more credit than he does.

Wes: For the first time in my life, I’ve got to back up Slawdog here. He’s right across the board.

Chizz made a joke about racing five more years. Is Chizz ever most likely to stop Chizzing?

Slaw: Negative. The year is 2090, Chizz is racing Jett Lawrence the IV in the Saturn Supercross Championship and still dominating the LCQs. Stamp it.

Wes: Chiz might be on a “retirement tour” but he’s going to pull a Deano. Didn’t Deano retire like 4 years ago, and he just signed a Factory Honda fill-in ride? It’s in his blood, and it’s what he knows how to do. Mid-October, after not riding for two weeks, he’s going to look over at Britt and ask, “Should I just go log a few laps and hit the gym… just incase?”
