Big changes are coming to the ROKiT Partzilla PRMX team in 2027, beginning with a switch from Kawasaki to Yamaha and the addition of some new faces to the roster.
On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of former 250SX East Champion Colt Nichols, who joins the program after spending the 2026 season with HEP Suzuki.
Nichols, who captured the 2021 250SX East Championship with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, finished 15th in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX standings this past season. He also finished 16th in the SMX World Championship Playoffs.
His outdoor campaign was limited to just four rounds of Pro Motocross, where he finished 35th in the final 450 Class standings.
For Nichols, the move represents an opportunity to return to a familiar manufacturer, one he enjoyed considerable success with during his 250 Class career.
“I’ve been talking to the team and working with Julien for several months and I’m happy we have been able to put a deal together that gets me back on a Yamaha where I’ve had a lot of success,” Nichols said. “I’m happy to be back on the Yamaha and this new YZ450 feels like home already.”
Team owner Julien Perrier is equally excited about adding an established veteran to the program.
“We are excited to have a rider of Colt’s caliber and we think he will fit right in with the team,” Perrier said.
Nichols will continue to run his familiar No. 45, keeping the popular “Colt 45” nickname alive for another season. He has already begun testing aboard the Yamaha YZ450F at the team’s facility in Florida as preparations ramp up for the 2027 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season.
