Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has added another major piece to its amateur program, signing Easton Graves to a multi-year deal. If you don’t follow the amateur scene, you may not be familiar with Graves. But, as a 19-time AMA Media Member of the Year nominee, I’m here to tell you, remember the name. He is one of the most well-rounded amateur riders in the country. And now under the tutelage of the highly-successful Yamaha Star Racing team, things are only looking up for the young star.

On Monday, Star Racing announced the additions of Levi Townley and Jaggar Townley, sons of former champion Ben Townley, and Graves to its already stacked amateur roster. It’s another statement from a program that continues to invest heavily in developing the next generation of professional talent. After spending the first part of 2026 in the Supermini class, Graves will move up to 250B starting at the upcoming THOR Mini O’s at Gatorback over Thanksgiving week.

“I’m beyond excited to join Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing,” said Graves. “Being part of a team with this much history and success is a dream come true. I have high expectations for myself, and I’m ready to put in the work. I’m looking forward to getting comfortable on the Yamaha and working with the entire team. My goal is simple: win races, fight for championships, and prove what I’m capable of. I’m ready to get to work and make this opportunity count.”

While the Townley signings deserve their own accolades, we’re going to focus on Graves for a minute.

The Walker, Louisiana, native is coming off a massive 2026 season, highlighted by a dominant performance at the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s. That is easy to find with a random Ask Jeeves search. We’re going to dig a bit deeper here thanks to the Vurbmoto Prospect app. We’ve spent the last few years building a database of amateur motocross results, rankings, and advanced statistics. And when you start digging into Graves’ profile, you quickly realize Star Racing is getting a rider with quite the résumé.

110 Wins and Counting

Let’s start with the big numbers. According to Prospect, Graves has competed in 537 races, collecting 110 overall victories, 175 podium finishes, and 464 top-10 finishes. Like we said: quite the resume.

Of his 537 recorded races, Graves has finished inside the top 10 an incredible 464 times, an 86.4% top-10 finishing rate across more than a decade of competition. And these numbers have come against elite competition, as he has competed in 35 AMA Major Events, 20 AMA Featured Events, 31 Regional Qualifiers, and 46 Area Qualifiers, according to Prospect.

Loretta Lynn’s Statement

If there was any doubt about Graves’ ability to perform when the stakes are highest, he pretty much erased it at Loretta Lynn’s this summer. Competing in Supermini 2 (13–16), Graves was perfect, with three moto wins and a title. It was his second career Loretta Lynn’s title after previously winning the 65cc (10–11) championship in 2023.

In Supermini 1, Graves won the first moto but was docked positions for jumping on a cross flag. He had 6-3-1 finishes for second overall, giving him a championship and a runner-up finish in two of the most competitive divisions in amateur motocross.

A Résumé That Keeps Growing

Graves’ success isn’t confined to one season, though. His Prospect career momentum chart shows consistent growth over the past decade, with his cumulative score climbing steadily through 2026. And while Graves currently sits 28th in the Prospect all-time national career rankings with 434,251 points, he’s the No. 1-ranked rider in Louisiana, ahead of Elliott Bowsher and Kimble Jett.

Digging Deeper Into the Numbers

Wins and championships tell part of the story. But Prospect’s advanced racing metrics give us another look at what Graves has done on the track. Across the available data, Graves has recorded 1,808 laps raced and 825 laps led. That’s 45.6% of all recorded laps spent out front.

He has also recorded an average overall finish of 5.41 and an average moto finish of 4.17, with an average first-lap position of 3.39. In other words, Graves has consistently put himself near the front early and has spent a considerable amount of his racing career leading the field. And with his move to Star Racing Yamaha, he’ll now have the backing of one of the most successful development programs in the sport.

What’s Next?

Star Racing has made it clear that developing young talent remains a major priority, and Graves certainly fits the mold of a rider with the credentials to become something special. Of course, amateur success doesn’t automatically translate to professional championships. We’ve seen that plenty of times. But when you combine two Loretta Lynn’s titles, 110 career wins, 464 top-10 finishes, and the kind of consistency Graves has demonstrated over his young career, it’s easy to understand why Star Racing wanted him. We’ll get our first look at Graves on the Yamaha Star Racing machine, and in the 250B class,at the upcoming THOR Mini O’s.
