A week before the 2026 Motocross of Nations is set to take place in Ernée, France, Team USA is officially in scramble mode.
On Saturday, Honda HRC Progressive’s Chance Hymas, who was slated to move up to the 450 for the event, announced that he is withdrawing after overjumping a triple during practice for the SMX World Championship Final and injuring his wrist.
“After further evaluation a CT scan showed small fractures in two wrist bones and it raised concern about an injured ligament between the bones,” Hymas said. “This decision is about giving Team USA the best possible chance at a great result. I know I wouldn’t be at 100%, and I don’t believe that would be fair to Coop, Levi, or the entire USA team.”
It marks the second time Hymas has been selected to represent Team USA only to have an injury keep him from competing. He was also named to the team in 2024 before a knee injury suffered during the SMX Playoffs forced him to withdraw.
Hymas will also miss today’s SMX World Championship Final.
