Red Bull KTM’s Julien Beaumer underwent surgery on Saturday to stabilize a burst fracture of his L3 vertebra, the team announced.
The 19-year-old suffered the injury in a crash during the 250 qualifying session at the first round of the SuperMotocross Playoffs in Charlotte.
Beaumer took to social media to provide further updates on his injury and said he also suffered a fracture to his L2 and L4.
In his post, Beaumer addressed comments regarding his ability to ride after suffering a concussion at the final round of the Pro Motocross Championship at Budds Creek.
“What’s up guys? I wanted to hop on here and give you guys an update on my health. First things first, I’ve seen a lot of comments that I shouldn’t have been racing this weekend regarding my crash in Budds Creek and that they failed me and what not. I was ready to go this weekend. This is non-concussion related. My head is perfectly fine. And yeah, you guys can throw that bullshit out the window.
“Regarding me right now, I had surgery on my lower lumbar. My L3 was a burst fracture and I fractured to my L2 and L4. They put some screws and rods in.I just wanted to give you guys an update on the road recovery and I’ll see you guys soon.”
We will post further updates as they are known.
