One Brave Soul Completed 28 Laps at the Vurbmoto 500 West?!?!?! Plus, More Cool Stats from the Event

While on the surface, it may seem like The Vurbmoto 500 team (OR solo) race, which combines off-road, motocross and an EnduroCross section and runs 500 total minutes (yes 500!!!), seems only for the Cody Webb’s of the world, you could not be more wrong. This is an every man event. From the couch surfers (ask VurbWes, he did it last year straight off the couch) to the Washed Up Dirtbikers of the world, this event is FOR YOU. And also the Cody Webb’s of the world who came and competed for Team FMF.

We call it a Fundurance race for a reason: The first and main priority is to have fun. Nothing like a weekend at the track with the boys and beers and dirtbikes. The second part (endurance) can certainly come into play if you want to Ironman it. But, for the most part, you are riding 7-10 laps with breaks in-between. Believe me, if Wes can do it, you can.

Thanks to our new app (Vurbmoto Prospect app on the Apple Store. Go download it) we have some crazy cool data we can now share from this event (and just about every amateur motocross event in the US), which is what I’m going to do below.

KEEP IN MIND: When you see the first laps, the times may be wrong. The reason: the Pros started the event and missed live timing and scoring. So, while the number of laps and results are 100% correct, the opening laps of some teams will show different times. Sorry, blame the Pros. They should know better. Kidding. Kind of.

Also of note: Classes were based on the combined age of the overall team as of the day of the race. For example, a team of four 25-year-old riders would be in the (25×4 = 100) 80-119 Years Class.

Let’s get into it:

Solo

Interesting Facts and Stats from the Solo Class

  • 7 warriors decided they didn’t want help from no teammates. They would attack the brutal 500 total minutes of racing all by themselves.
  • The winner of the class, Ivan Barker from Smithfield, UT, completed a total of 28 (yes 28) laps.
  • Runner-up, Ryan Frisby of New Harmony, UT, completed 23 total laps.
  • Third place, Tyler Pizorino also completed 23 laps.
  • Let’s breakdown Barker’s insane accomplishment a bit more:

Money

Interesting Facts and Stats from the Money Class

  • The winner of the money class–Cameron Horner’s team–completed 38 laps, which is only 10 more than Barker did in the Solo Class. Really puts into perspective what Barker accomplished.
  • Insane: Horner’s team led all 38 laps. That’s right, they led a 500 minute race from start to finish.
  • Runner-up, Zane Roberts team, completed 37 laps, one less than the winners.
  • Third place, Travis Flateua’s team, completed 36 laps.
  • Let’s breakdown the winners and runner-up a bit more:

  • Insane: Like Horner’s team, they led the entire 500 minutes.
  • Side note: We only allow 85cc and above to enter this race. While we want some younger rippers, we also want to keep it safe for everyone. And honestly, braving out the Mesquite course on a 85cc / Supermini is an accomplishment of its own!

79Years and Under

Interesting Facts and Stats from the 79 and Under Class

  • Wyatt Anderson’s winning team completed a total of 35 laps, which was only 3 less than the winners of the Money Class.

  • Troy White’s winning team completed a total of 32 laps.
  • A total of 31 teams registered for the class.
  • Of the 31 teams, 23 teams completed 25 laps or more.
  • We’ll have to incorporate some ages next year so we know for fact, but to make this age group your team, at minimum, has a median age of 40. Impressive indeed, Gentlemen!
  • Rod Reynolds from WPS / Fly Racing was there watching on this year. He’s already gathered a team of 4x 60 year olds for 2026. Reckon we should make a 240+ class?!

Industry

  • Donny Emler Jr and the FMF boys and MotoSport.com’s team engaged in an all-out war throughout this race with FMF coming out on top. Stay tuned next week as we will have a two-part YouTube series showcasing the battle and much more.
  • Team OMC Raceway (home of The Turkey team race) traveled down and took third over Team Pit Viper and Team Thor.
  • Poor, Brett Cue. In his first race coming off knee replacement, he hurt his knee early and couldn’t do many laps. But his teammate from Canada didn’t give up and continued to race. Get well soon, Mr. Cue.

That’s all I have. Make sure to download the Vurbmoto Prospect app on the Apple store to follow all major amateur events in the U.S. and claim your profile so you can continue to move up the ranks.

Until next year.
