Levi Kitchen Releases Update Following Daytona Supercross Crash

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen released an update on Sunday morning following his high-speed crash in the 250SX East Region main event on Saturday at Daytona.

Kitchen said that he sustained a broken collarbone and a “couple fractures” in his upper back in the crash, which caused the main event to be red flagged.

“It was unfortunate,” he said in his post. “Felt like I maybe found a new level of riding last night. There was some positives to take away but I got a little bit greedy with that section. Just glad it wasn’t worse. [I] haven’t seen the crash, don’t really want to. It was probably pretty gnarly. Thank you everybody. I will be alright.

Kitchen’s teammate, Cameron McAdoo, did not race the main event after qualifying seventh in his heat race due to a knee injury sustained prior to the start of the season.

“Unfortunately, my knee just wasn’t strong enough today to safely race,” said McAdoo. “My safety–and that of the other riders–comes first. Everyone knows I’ll always give my all when I’m on the gate, but tonight, it just wasn’t in the cards for us.”

“It was a tough night with both Cameron and Levi sidelined,” said team manager Iain Southwell. “Rider safety comes first. Levi is doing okay and being evaluated now, and Cameron made the right call to sit out. On a positive note, Seth rode strong and put the team on the podium.”

We will provide more information as it becomes available.

  1. Pro Circuit have been nothing short of pros at crashing their brains out the last few years. If you’re familiar with the Swiss cheese model, there is always a management failure which contributes to the root cause.
