Jordon Smith to Miss Start of 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Championship

Triumph Factory Racing’s Jordon Smith will miss the start of the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship after undergoing off-season shoulder surgery, the team announced on Monday.

At the final round of the SMX Playoffs at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in September, Smith crashed in a high-speed section in qualifying which resulted in a dislocated shoulder. While Smith would race that night, finishing sixth overall, further scans revealed that he tore his rotator cuff and labrum.

In the post, Smith said he is five weeks removed from surgery and will miss the start of 2026.

“Unfortunately from my crash in Las Vegas where I dislocated my shoulder, I went home and had an MRI on it, which showed I had some damage to it in tearing my rotator cuff and labrum,” Smith said. “It’s unfortunate. The doctors felt like I needed to get it fixed to get back to 100 percent and ensure no more dislocations, so I’m about five weeks out of surgery now, trying to do everything I can to be back as quickly as possible.

“As of right now, it looks like I’m going to miss the first part of the Supercross season, but I hope to be back as soon as we can and be back on the gate racing.”

Smith was expected to move to the 450 Class and lead Triumph’s maiden 450SX season, but that has not been officially announced and there is currently no word on if Smith’s injury changes anything.

Earlier this off-season, Triumph announced that Denmark’s Mikkel Haarup will race the 450 Class in the Pro Motocross Championship.
