Jason Anderson After Thunder Valley: “I’m going to get my knee checked out next week and we’ll see how it all goes from there”

Throughout his career, Jason Anderson has struggled at Thunder Valley. Not because the track or anything of that nature, its because he has difficulties at altitude and has even had to take medication to deal with the sickness he experiences at the races at elevation.

He typically comes in to any race very late in the week, and leaves as soon as he can. Entering Thunder Valley, which sits at more than 6,000 ft elevation, Anderson was coming off consecutive top-10s to begin the year, but obviously his main concern entering round 3 of the Pro Motocross Championship last Saturday was his health.

“Obviously, today was not how I wanted the day to pan out,” he said after the race. “My main concern for Thunder Valley is always the elevation because I struggle with altitude sickness, so I was focused on managing that.”

Following a 12th in the opening 450 moto, Anderson did not complete the second moto after a pair of crashes. Per the team press release, Anderson “tweaked” his knee in the first crash which caused the second crash. In the release, Anderson said he is going to get his knee checked out this week and his status for round 4 at High Point on Saturday is unknown.

“I ended up getting 19th overall. The first moto I got a bit squeezed out on the start and was just trying to hammer in laps. The second moto I went down at the top of the track and tweaked my knee, then I ended up going down again and got trapped under my bike for a bit. I didn’t feel comfortable finishing the race after that. I’m going to get my knee checked out next week and we’ll see how it all goes from there.”
