Mike Alessi Involved in Hit and Run in Florida

Scary situation for Mike Alessi today, as according to an Instagram post, he was involved in a hit and run while riding his road bike in Callahan, Florida.

He said the incident took place on US HWY 1 and the vehicle was a red truck.

“I just got released from the hospital and am home now,” he wrote. “I have a huge cut and hematoma on the top of my head that required 10 staples. My elbow has stitches and my back/butt are covered in road rash.”

Below is Mike’s full post. Thankfully he is okay.

“God is good!!! I was hit on my road bike this am around 8:20 on US HWY 1 in Callahan, Florida by a red truck. The driver fled the scene of the accident. I want to thank every single person who stopped and/or turned around to help me and get me medical attention. Some of the witnesses are saying it was a red truck with a black hood, seemed to be in the year range of 05-09 (only say that because of the body style) the rear end was lowered a little bit, not much, but enough to tell it didn’t sit straight.

“It had darker tinted windows, a lime green sticker on the passenger side but they can’t remember if it was on the back glass on the passenger side or one of the side windows…. I just got released from the hospital and am home now. I have a huge cut and hematoma on the top of my head that required 10 staples. My elbow has stitches and my back/butt are covered in road rash. The driver was going approximately 70+ mph when the vehicle hit me. I am just so thankful to be alive right now. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me!! If anyone has any information on this driver or saw this vehicle on the road this am and can remember anything please reach out to me or my wife.”
