Number Check: Chris Alldredge

written by Kaelyn Sheedy

We got up with Chris Alldredge who holds the number 588. He spends most of his time in California and is one of the up coming 85 riders from Orgeon. We didn't want to ask him five hundred and eighty eight questions or twenty one, (the total of those three numbers added up) instead, we just made sure to cover the important stuff. photos | sheedy

DSC_0134Tell us where you’re originally from?
Powellbutte, OR

How old are you?
13

How long have you been running the Amatuer national circuit?

Since I was seven, so that’s 6 years now.

It's been awhile since we've heard your name. You’ve finally put everything together,
would you say that this year has been your break out year?
Yes, for sure. I haven’t gotten a top 3 since...I can’t even remember how long ago.

You came out at Whitney with your first championship of the year. Congrats. You were actually on the box five out of six races that week, you had a solid run at Oak Hill as well. What does that do for your confidence in such a stacked 85 class?
Thanks. Ya, it did a lot for my confidence, I haven’t actually been on the podium for a few years. Especially against, Besceglia, Cianciarulo, Webb and Masterpool. It was pretty sweet winning that championship.

So, you’re feeling pretty confident heading into Vegas.
I’m feeling confident, the dirt at Vegas is the dirt that I’m used to riding all the time at my house.  Vegas gets slick and hard towards the end and that’s what I ride all the time.

Where are you at right now?
Underground MX - at the Regals in Kemp Texas.

What are you still doing in Texas?
We’re actually leaving tonight to go to California. I’m racing Honey Lake for the North West/ South West Qualifier this weekend and I actually just did a qualifier at Cycle Ranch this past weekend for the South Central region, as a back up.

Tell us how you did this past weekend at Cycle Ranch.
I did pretty good. I won everything expect I think, two motos. I was racing against Masterpool and by the time I got up into second Masterpool was gone. The next moto I beat him, and the next moto after that, he crashed on the downhill and was out for the weekend, I think he might have broken his foot. But all in all I felt good all weekend.

What are you expectations heading into World Mini?
My game plan is to go out there and have fun and ride the track to my full potential. I expect myself to do well, but as long as I try my hardest and what happens, happens, whether I crash or whether I win. I want to take home some championships and I want to get up on the box but anything can happen.  I mean, just as long as I’m trying my hardest and my best and going as hard as I possibly can, I’m happy.

What others nationals will you hit up this year?

World Mini, Mammoth, Dodge, Loretta’s, and Mini O’s hopefully.

There are a lot of talented riders in the pro class, who do you look up to?

Oh jezz, can I say more than one?

Ya sure.
TBake for one. Kyle Regal, he’s a really nice kid and he’s really fast. Tevin Tapia is a good friend of mine. Johnny Moore too, he’s a really cool kid, he should have done a lot better in Texas but he’s coming off an injury so that set him back. Ya, I’d have to go with those four guys.

DSC_0138If you didn’t race MX what would you want to be really good at?
Snowcross (laughs)

Snowcross, really?
Ya, racing snowmobiles. I think I’d be really good at it. I’m pretty good at riding snowmobiles and it’s the only thing to do back home because it’s always snowing.

Who do you usually ride with in California?
Tbake. We stay at this house all the time and whoever else is at the track that day.

I’m not sure who that is?

Ya, me neither!

I heard he was a pretty fast novice rider.
He’s kinda fast, ya know. Fast in California because that’s where he lives.

You're going to get beat up.
(laughs) He makes fun of me all the time, he knows I'm kidding. But don’t tell him I said any of that.

DSC_0426Okay, that wont go in the interview or anything.

Yeah, right.
