Inside Vurb Insider

Last week, nestled in the middle of a 2,000 word story we made a rather large announcement. As the announcement of Vurb Insider lay tucked in between a sandwich of other motocross news, hidden from the impatient eye, we patiently sat back and waited on a response from our readers. Well, we didn’t get one. Nothing negative, but nothing positive either. Nothing that insisted that we don’t launch a paid portion to our website and nothing that said, “Hey, go for it. We will support you all the way to the top.”

While the sound of crickets chirping might hint to the tone in our comments section under the story, our phones were abuzz as soon as everyone heard the news. And much to our satisfaction, the feedback was positive. Of course everyone had their own little piece of advice to give, but all in all people understood our reasoning for making the move and supported the idea to the fullest.

If you find yourself confused as to what the heck is going on right now, let us shed some light onto the situation. May 28, five days after the kick off to the 2009 Lucas Oil Motocross Championships at Glen Helen, there will be something new going on with Vurb. As we stated last week, on top of all the content you currently see on Vurb, you will also be able to get 1,000 times more content. Yes, we said 1,000. This is based on a mathematical equation we used to quantify exactly how much more information you will be able to obtain from Vurb, and after weeks of crunching numbers we finally came to the conclusion that 1,000 times the content is an accurate and justifiable number.

Here’s the catch, you have to pay for it. Okay, relax and breathe for a second. Before you go all postal let us explain. If after our explanation you still feel the need to release some frustration, please email Travis Steward at travis@vurbmoto.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . He will be happy to answer any and all questions and he’ll do it with poor grammar and a smile.

Vurb is the result of the efforts of many. It’s not just the author names you see above a video or interview that have a hand on this. There are accountants (thanks, Leslie), programmers and designers that all have helped bring Vurb to where it is today. And believe us, it hasn’t been easy. There is not one person on staff with Vurb that has done their job solely for the money. I will personally attest to the fact that every single person here believes whole heartedly in the future of this company. But passion only goes so far and there is a need to push Vurb into the next decade on a higher level. Thus was born Vurb Insider.

Just to set the record straight, NOTHING on Vurb will change. Everything you currently get for free will still be just that, free. We will continue to grow our content on the current Vurb platform and will put everything we have into evolving into a better online publication. Think of Vurb Insider as the cherry on top of an already tasty ice cream sundae.

So what will you get by paying a nominal yearly fee to become an Insider? By becoming an Insider and supporting Vurb we have spent months figuring out how to pay you back. A few of the biggest opportunities will be worked out this week, so expect another press release to come your way soon. For now allow us to give you a peek into what’s in store. On the content side of things we have organized an army of contributors, new and old, to help bring you the most personalized content on the web. More in depth stories and more behind the scenes video is just the beginning of what you will be able to enjoy. We will be bringing you exclusive video and photo content from every outdoor pro and amateur national. We don’t want to let the cat out of the bag on everything we have coming down the pipe as far as editorial but, trust us, you won’t be disappointed.

Aside from more content we have also called on the help from our marketing partners to give away as much swag as humanly possible. One of the coolest products we will be giving away is a brand new KLX 140. A huge thanks to Valcom Motorsports for the hook up. Other giveaways include a set of signed Travis Pastrana gear and tons of other merchandise from our supporters. Insiders will have the opportunity to win huge prizes each month through various contest giveaways.

Possibly the biggest incentive deal is still in the works, but should be signed, sealed and delivered by weeks end, so stay logged on. We would like to thank the support of the action sports community in advance. Our plan is to bring you the most artistically driven creative content on the web for many years to come and your support for what we do is the most valued aspect of our job.
