It was no surprise that for the first regional of the year, the competition was deep. The chance of torrential down pours which were expected through out the weekend did not hold back the potential 2009 Loretta Lynn alumni from flooding the fields of Lazy River. The rain held off on Saturday and the sun was shinning as the competition heated up. A short downpour on Saturday night left the track a bit muddy but before long on Sunday it was perfect, tacky and rutted. As some of the top youth prospects rose to the occasion, they put on a preview of what's to come at Loretta's.

In School Boy 2 it was Joey Savatgy who grabbed nearly every holeshot and if he wasn't out front, he was reeling in the 110 of Kyle Peters who fought hard to keep his lead. Savatgy would go on to finish 1-1-1 for the overall while Kyle Peters would finish 2-2-2 for second and Dylan Cox a consistent 3-3-3 for third.

As for the School Boy 1 class, the boys put on quite the show. The division one win went to Kory Keylon and division two it was SavatgyPeters_0049Savatgy again out front. It wasn't until the second moto where we saw Savatgy take a hard crash which left him outside the top 5 at the checkered flag, while Keylon would ride a solid race to finish with the win. In Moto 3 the holeshot and lead went to Savatgy for a portion of the race until he slid out in a corner leaving Tyler McSwain to inherit the number one position and take the final moto win. Savatgy would collect himself and finish in 2nd while Austin Coons would round out the top 3. Overall win goes to Kory Keylon with a 1-1-7.

keylon_0297Austin Coon out of Spenser, Maryland finished 2nd overall with a 2-5-3 and Anthony Rodriguez finishing in 4th with a 3-2-6. Tyler McSwain rounded out the top 5 with a 4-6-8. Kyle Peters and Tyler Stewart both had a few upsets that would keep them from qualifying although both showed significant speed.

Super Mini 2 (14-16)
Owen_0503It was Jace Owen who was victorious over Tyler Stewart in moto 1 but it was then the 99 of Stewart who would finish strong the last two motos with two wins and the overall. Third place in moto 1 went to Vann Martin and unfortunately for Shane McElrath who went 31-3-3, he would finish outside the top ten.

Super Mini 1 (12-15)
TugofWarAdam Cianciarulo and Jace Owen won both of their division races for moto 1, Jacob Baumert out of Kentucky and Colton Ford would finish 2nd to Red Bull rider Cooper Webb and Cody Chisholm who finished 3rd. Last but not least, Jesse Masterpool and Nick Gaines would round out the top 4 in their division. It was Cianciarulo who would ride out front in moto 2, Jace Owen sat in second with a comfortable lead over third. One of the best battles of the weekend heated up between Jesse Masterpool, Tyler Stewart and the 641 of Baumert in this moto. While Masterpool was on the hunt to take over third, it was a bar to bar tug of war game that intensified as the moto went on. Despite changing up his line and utilizing the track the best he could to maneuver his way around Masterpool, Stewart would cross the finish in 4th and Jacob Baumert would finish right behind him in 5th.

85 (12-13) Mod

ACWEBBMASTERPOOL

AC wasted no time getting to the front of the pack early every moto and although he may have won the overall in this class, there were a handful of other riders this weekend who brought their game face as we saw Cooper Webb and Jessy Masterpool both keep AC honest on multiple occasions. Moto 1 division wins went to Jesse Masterpool and Cooper Webb, Adam would re mount after a fall and finish second along with Cody Chisholm. Gaines and Covington would finish 3rd in their divisions to Stone Edler and Jordon Smith finished 4th. Moto 2 was another epic battle as the crowd was on their feet watching a battle heat up  between Webb and Cianciarulo, but instead it turned into Masterpool applying the pressure on Webb while AC pulled a lead out of the picture. Each rider would finish right where they started; AC, Webb, Masterpool, Covington, Jordon Smith. Last moto of this class was a bit uneventful as Adam checked out, Masterpool rode a smart race in second, Colton Ford dug deep and pulled out a 3rd place finish, Cooper would finish 4th and Cody Chisholm would round of the top 5.

85 (12-13) Stk

Ford_0516Again we saw Cianciarulo take the overall going 2-1-1. Webb and Ford were able to take the division one and two wins, while Gaines and AC finished 2nd. Stone Elder and Jarek Balkovic would finish 3rd but we would see them far outside the top ten for the remainder of the motos. Cooper Webb who had restless company all three motos put on a solid ride to finish 2nd overall and Colton Ford (left) would finish 3rd overall. Gaines, Masterpool, Smith, Patapis, and Covington would all make the qualifying cut-off.

85 (9-11) Stock/ Mod
FryeHilton_0315Alexander Frye (left) rode a near perfect weekend, winning 5 out of 6 motos he took the overall in the Stock class and finished a respective 5th in the (9-11) Mod class. Steven Gretchen went on to finish 1-2-2 and took the overall in Mod. Hunter Hilton, Tristan Charboneau, Tommy Maxey, Jake Masterpool, andGretchen_0429 Mitchell Harrison all put in impressive rides and finished inside the qualifying positions.

65 Classes

Recent Texas Champion Kade Walker (right) did damage in the (10-11) Stock and (7-11) Mod classes by winning both overalls. We also saw the likes of Austin McKee, Taylor Barnett, Jake Pinhancos all take a moto win. Honorable mention to Miguel CorreiWalker_0059a, Tommy Maxey, Blake Rothenstine and Cameron Cannon who would come out with second place and third place finishes, as well. The (7-9) Stock class overall would go to Justin Dunn, 2nd to Julian Kempany and 3rd to Logan Stokes. Perry Campbell looked to have had the 2nd place overall wrapped up but a 18th third moto finish put his 2-2-18 in 9th, which is not consistent enough for a qualifying position.

51 (7-8) AMA 2 Stock

Bailey_0226The over all went to Jordan Bailey who was railing around the track this weekend finishing with a 2-1-1 and the ovTristinLewis_0285erall. The 735 of Tristian Lewis is always one to put up a fight and he did so running a strong 1-2-2 for second overall with Noah Aronson tailing in third overall spot.

51 (4-6) AMA 1 Stock / 51 (4-6) Stock Shaft Drive

In the AMA 1 Stock it was Caleb Green out of Handersonville, NC who took the overall but never a moto win, finishing 2-2-3 he clearly stayed most consistent. Adam Lowery (right) who finished 3rd overall went 10-1-1 and Gage Linville 2nd overall with a 1-3-4. In the Shaft Drive class it was Adam Lowery who put it together and finished a 2-2-1 for the lowery_0380overall. Gage Linville was able to hangout for 2nd, and Brandon Coates took the 3rd overall spot. Unfortunately for Larry Reyes out of Houston, TX his 4-3-DNF would set him outside of a qualifying position although he has the speed to run with the front of the pack.

Girls/ Womens

Womens overall went to Tayler Miller while it would have gone to Kasie Creson who went 1-1-17. Leah Cantrell was back on her game this weekend and she finished a solid 2nd to Erica Roland who came in with a 3-3-4 for 3rd over all.

DSC_0490In the Girls class it was Brinsley Dyess, Christina Older, and Taylor Higgins who all shared a moto win. Higgins with her 2-3-1 was able to clench the overall. We saw Serratia Gonazalez, Amanda Brown, Kelsey Morris all have a finish inside the top 3.
