Maxxis British Championship: Lyng
The 5th Round of the Maxxis British Championship took place at the sandy Norfolk circuit and as has been the case for much of the series, the racing was next to none.
In the first of the MX2 races it was Stephen Sword who made the start and led the race from the front. In second place it was Mel Pocock fighting it out with Jake
Nicholls, with Nicholls making the pass and setting after Sword. The next battle was for third place and now it was between Pocock and Karro. Karro made the pass at the mid-race distance and set into a comfortable pace. Sword continued to take the win ahead of Nicholls and Karro. Fourth and fifth places went to Pocock and Martin Barr, respectively.
In the second MX2 race it was again Swordy that took the early race lead and never looked back. In second place it was Martin Barr ahead of Pocock and Nicholls. This battle went on for half the race until Nicholls got behind Barr. Nicholls was pushing like mad and caught up to Barr, who made a mistake on the last lap and slipped back to third. At the finish it was Sword, Nicholls and Barr. With Bradshaw and Karro rounding out the top five.
In the first MX1 race it was Tom Church that made the start and led the early part of the race. But the race had to be red flagged after 3 laps due to Lewis Rose suffering a broken leg in a first corner crash. In the restart it was Bryan MacKenzie that took the lead ahead of Carl Nunn and Tom Church. At the mid-race point Church took the lead but soon was caught and passed by Gareth Swanepoel. At the finish it was Swanepoel ahead of Anderson and Nunn. The fourth and fifth places went to Noble and Church, respectively.
In the second race it was Brad Anderson that took and strong start to finish race win. The second place went Gareth Swanepoel and Scott Columb took home third place. The battle of fourth and fifth saw the two CCM’s of Tom Church and Jason Dougan rub plastic till the end with Church sealing up the fourth position and Dougan settling for fifth.
