Florida’s Tara Gieger took home X Games Gold as the world watched women compete in Supercross for the first time in 2008 as X Games athletes and this year is set to be even more enthralling.
Vurbmoto has put together a short list of questions that was sent to all ten women riders amongst the '09 roster and as the next 10 days unfold we will introduce each athlete and get the inside behind strategy, training, and Xpectations as they head to the Staples Center to fight for Gold.

Women's motocross is without a doubt gaining huge momentum and the
introduction of Women’s Moto X (at X Games in '08) is a vital part of the
growth stimulus. Five years ago did you ever consider that you would have
the opportunity to become an X Games athlete and what does that mean to you
and to the future of Women's Motocross?
Well, no, I never really did think about being an X Games athlete, but it is
definitely a cool thing! Unfortunately I was hurt last year and couldn't
participate, but it was exciting to watch and I am getting ready for this year!
I think this is definitely a step in the right direction for the future of
women's moto and all women's sports!
You spend all year focusing on motocross and the WMA title, how do
implement Supercross training into your program and how are you adjusting?
Where are you training and how prepared do you feel with less than two
weeks before the gate drops.
Well during the year I just try and work on different jumps and things that I
might not normally tackle. Then we usually get a break before the X Games
so that is when I really try and focus on the upcoming event. My mechanic can
get my bike ready for me before so we are good to go when it is time to
practice. I have been training and riding out in Southern California.
What do you think your strength will be in SX?
Probably some of the same things that are my strengths in MX...corner speed,
good start ( I hope!)
What are your Xpectations?
Well, of course I would love to win, who wouldn't like some gold! I am
just going to try my best and give it 100%
