written by Brent Stallo

Saturday was the final day of racing action at the Dodge Amateur National and, man, was it a good one!  The finial champion’s were crowned and you can leave it to us to tell you how they got there. Read on!

The final moto of the day was the 450 pro class, and with Timmy Weigand and Jesse Casillas entering the moto tied in points it was bound to be a good one.  Weigand grabbed the holee and tried to checkout but the hard charging Casillas would not let Weigand go without a fight.  Casillas was all over Weigand but Weigand is no slouch, he held strong and took the moto victory along with the overall.

The gate was lined with the 250 Sock Intermediate class and Jessy Nelson was in control of the class from start to finish as he took all three of the moto wins along with the title.  Robert Noftz and Chris Spiers both showed impressive speed as well; as the two were able to put their Yamaha’s on the box in the end.

Jeagher Lafountaine came into the week hungry for a few titles and, well, let’s just say he satisfied his appetite.  Lafountaine came to Dodge with a big fat zero in the titles category, but he left with three.  This was his last intermediate race so look for the 59-machine taking care of business in the A class real soon.

Tyler Bereman looked solid all week long but had a few hick-ups along the way.  He hit the ground a few times, which put him in a bad position for overalls.  He took a number of moto wins but was only able to grab gold in the 450 Mod Intermediate class.  Tyler is looking to improve his solid year in the B class next year as he’s decided to forego the ‘A’ class and stick it out for another year in the intermediate class.

Brandon Scharer has been around for a number of years but we’ve never seen him lay the wood like we did last week.  Scharer was flying and was able to grab a few titles on his way out of the 85 class and onto the big bikes.

It was awesome to watch Chris Alldredge and Jesse Masterpool go at it all week long.  The two seemed joined at the hip in nearly every moto and it was battle after battle for two of the most accomplished 85cc riders in the land. Masterpool got the best of Alldredge by winning three titles.  However, Alldredge did not go home empty handed as he was able to take top honors in the Supermini class.

Suzuki’s youngster Tristan Miller rode well beyond his years at Dodge and grabbed both the 85 7-11 stock and mod classes.

Luke Purther was the man in the 65 class and he took titles in all three classes that he entered.  However, the victories did not come easy.  He battled hard with Alec Mellick, Hydn Humphrey, Michael Mosiman and many more.  It was a hard fought battle to the end but Purther was able to win throughout.

Michael Mosiman was able to push through for the win in both the 65 6-9 stock and mod classes.  The young Californian also finished second in the open class, which was an amazing ride for him against an older field.

Austin Burns had a good week and was able to take the win in the 125 2-stroke class.  He also found himself on the box in a number of other classes.

_MG_0653

Jessy Nelson was able to add three more titles to his collection this week.  He had a few misshaps along the way, but was once again able to overcome and wind up on top.

Timmy Weigand did it again; he took it to the youngsters in both the 250 and 450 classes.  He was able to take the overall in both classes to give him some confidence as he heads to Portugal to represent our country at the ISDE (International Six Day Enduro).
