World Mini ROTD: Jordon Smith

written by Andrew Campo

World Mini Rider of the Day - Friday

Name: Jordon Smith

Age: 14

Hometown: Belmont, North Carolina

Classes: Supermini thru 13 and 16, 85/150 12-13

On Thursday Jordon Smith put in a remarkable ride to beat out Blake Green at the absolute last second to claim second in division one of the 85/150 12-13 class. Today Jordon got out early in division one of the Supermini thru 13 class after a short battle with Nevada native Jaime Gardiner. He looked forward and was able to gap the class by about 10 plus seconds as he crossed the checkers by way of a flawless confidence building ride. Smith has some serious competition in his mains on Saturday, but if he can remain as steady and smooth as he has early into the week, Jordon can expect to return to MTF with some titles and a lot of hope as we move towards Loretta's.

What are your moto finishes so far this week? 1, 2, 2, 4, 7

How do you like the new venue for World Minis? I'm adapting well to the track, it gets rough and that seems to work in my favor. There is a lot of competition here and it is good to be back in the mix with stacked classes.

How did you get involved with MTF? I did a camp there and then they watched me at Loretta's and I ended getting a scholarship for a year. I have been with MTF for three years now and I can't say enough about the program. I spend about three weeks a month there and it seems to be paying off this week.

How did Texas go for you? It wasn't my best run. I had been sick with mono and didn't get to really train as needed. I ended up with one top five and five top tens between Whitney and Oak Hill.

What is your best finish at Loretta's? I finished second in 2008 in the 85 7/11 class.

Is that your biggest accomplishment so far in your career? No, I won the Fox Bronze Boot at the Mini Os in 2008 and that to me was bigger than the 2nd at Loretta's.

How Long have you been with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki program? For two years now and I really enjoy being a part of the team. It's a great program and the atmosphere at the races is great.

What is you favorite Thor gear design? I love my Rockstar gear, but I have to say that the Seek and Destroy gear is my new favorite.

What is next for you? Ponca and then Loretta's.
