Focus on the Goal and not the Obstacle!

So many times we all tend to focus on the huge task at hand instead of the steps that it takes to accomplish the goal.  If you have ever watched the movie featuring Bill Murray entitled "What About Bob?", you would remember his psychiatrist played by Richard Dreyfus teaching Bob about baby steps.  That is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, watch it and you will feel better the next time you find yourself getting overwhelmed!

When students come to On Track in order to get their high school diploma it is much the same. First they realize it is a must to have an education, then they sigh when they hear the schedule we offer our students, however ultimately, it is when the program is broken down into steps that there is a sense of relief in knowing that by placing one foot in front of the other that they will get there if they stay focused and determined to accomplish the task at hand.

So it is with life, if we stop and realize that this is what needs to happen and these are the steps we need to take, then the overwhelming feeling will subside whether you are going to school, adjusting to a new motorcycle, or recovering from an injury.  Focus on the goal, break down the tasks into measurable benchmarks, and you will get much closer to where you want to be in no time!

“Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off the goal.”
