Loretta's 2009
 
Loretta's is an amazing experience year after year, watching riders 
come together in pursuit of their dreams.
For some the glory of making it here is enough, for others a 
respectable top 10 is very possible, and for many a podium finish is a 
must.

I remember our first trip here in 2000, I read some statistics in the 
program of just how many tens of thousands try out at the area 
qualifiers and how many actually make it.  I can't recall the exact 
numbers, however, I can tell you that we were honored as a family to 
be here.
 
As a mother of a racer and a teacher of many, I know there are 
countless pieces of the puzzle that make the entire package in order 
for these kids to "make it" no matter what the level they are working 
toward.  These pieces include nutrition, physical training, being 
mentally prepared, having the support of family, finances, sponsors, 
factories, meeting school requirements, and last but not least an 
element of fun.  This year I noticed more fun in the pits between 
riders and their trainers.
 
This year the fun element has been more noticeable at Loretta Lynns. 
Most likely because after nine years of racing, our pit sees its 
importance more then ever. Whether it be grandparents, aunts, uncles, 
or friends from home flying in for support, vendors offering games 
like scavenger hunts for kids of all ages, or experienced trainers 
setting up teams to play Baggo. Fun was the element that made all the 
difference. With so much at stake it is good to see these kids enjoy 
the ride!
