A few weeks ago while I was preparing for monumental occasion in my life - traveling overseas for the first time ever to see the 2008 Red Bull Motocross of Nations – some very unfortunate events happened in my family. My great uncle had passed due to cancer, and my grandmother was admitted into the hospital the very next day. With two days left until my departure, I was fighting the temptation to stay home with grandmother who was in pretty serious condition in the hospital. My grandmother and I have always been extremely close, and words can’t really express the pain I was feeling having to decide which route to go. Ultimately, there was nothing I could do, and the decision was made to move onward to the United Kingdom. On the way to the airport, I was able to stop and say what would end up being my final good byes to my grandmother.

WesandEmery Upon my return home, I had quite a hard few days, and it’s still rough, but fortunately my family was blessed with a new addition. My cousin Michael and his wife Jeanette had a new little girl named Emery. While technically I’m a 2nd cousin, I certainly don’t look at it that way. As I mentioned, we are all very close, and since I’m an only child, we decided it only be right that I could be called “Uncle Wes”. So here’s to me being an Uncle!
