MikeBrownMEMike Brown Wins 2009 WORCS Championship

Mike Brown of Muscle Milk KTM won the 2009 WORCS Championship this weekend at Mesquite Motocross Park in Mesquite, Nevada. Coming into the weekend with just a race-worth of points ahead, Brown strategically raced the Sunday main event just right, placing 6th overall. Ricky Dietrich of Monster Energy Kawasaki attended the race for one last rush of the season and will be back next year for another attempt at the WORCS Championship. Brown came into 2010 full-time as an off-road racer for the first time since his motocross career and has proved to be a very successful diverse rider. We'll see him next year under the KTM factory semi back for some off-road seconds! Congrats on a great year and we look forward to having Mike back in 2010.

MEKTMKTM Claims 3 Off-Road Championships

In just one weekend, KTM claimed 3 solid wins in the Off-Road industry. Mike Brown (WORCS), Taddy Blazusiak (Endurocross), and Russ Pearson (AMA National Hare and Hound) all gave KTM a great final standing in the 2009 racing season. Brown was picked up as a full-timer and consistency stayed up in the points proving that orange was a perfect suit for his off-road talent. Taddy Blazusiak came back for another year in the Endurcross season to reclaim his reign in the Endurcross series, and is just one race closer to the $50,000 Geico Triple Crown prize. KTM Privateer Russell Pearson made the point you don't need the pretty big semi behind you at a race to dominate. Pearsons talent this year won him the 2009 AMA National Hare and Hound Championship this weekend in Lucerne Valley, California with Destry Abbott and David Kamo close behind.

SpiesBen Spies is Crowned World Champion

Ben Spies gave Yamaha its first-ever World Superbike title over the weekend at the Portimao Circuit in Portugal, the Texan riding the factory R1 to a calculated fifth in the second of two races to earn the title in his first season in the series and on the team.

The World Superbike Championship goes into Spies' trophy cabinet next to the three AMA Superbike titles he earned as a long-time Suzuki rider, and it puts a close on his short but amazingly successful World Superbike career as he heads to Spain in a few weeks to start the third phase of his career in MotoGP. Spies' debut season in World Superbike was stunning as he won 14 times in 29 races, earned 11 pole positions and 17 podium finishes.
