October is finally here and, well, as strange as it seems we’ve already let most of what we will be up to this month out of the bag. No worries though, as always, we’ve kept a few secrets up our sleeve for this months edition of On the Bubble.
First what you already know. The Red Bull MXoN is kicking off this weekend and our two boys from the UK, David Bulmer (edit) and Gary “Gaz” Price (video) are on scene with Wes Williams in Italy gearing up to bring you some of the most insane coverage of the worlds biggest event. Wes flew out Tuesday with DC and is already at work in Italy putting content together. Expect to see everything start flowing your way by Friday at the latest. We’ve also recruited the services of one of our new Insider feature writers, Dennis Albrewczynski “Alphado” for a story called MXoN: From the Couch, in which he will break down the entire race from his own living room in PA. We’ve been formatting the outline for this story over the last few days and have some solid ideas in place to give you a unique look into the weekend.
In local news, and by local we mean the USA, the big Vurb Pro Am Classic kicks off next weekend. The Golden Tickets have been sent and we expect to see some of the fastest amateurs in the land raid Bremen Race Park on October 10-11 for our 2nd Annual event. We’re flying the ‘A’ crew in for this event, so expect coverage to be similar to that of an amateur national. Kevin Kelly and David Izer of DMXS will be on scene as an added bonus to do a video edition of DMXS Radio straight from the pits on Saturday night. Please remember that everyone is invited to attend and that
all factories will be paying out contingency from the event.
Next on the docket is our first ever Vurb Ride Day. As reported earlier in the month we’ve teamed up with Rusty Reynolds of Triangle Cycles and Birch Creek MX to host our first annual Ride Day. We’ll be premiering EPIC at Triangle Cycles on Saturday night and the ride day will begin on Sunday. Taylor Futrell has already confirmed his appearance and we hope everyone within driving distance will come out and enjoy a relaxed day of riding with us in the beautiful hills of Virginia on October 25.
The Suzuki Top Gun Showdown also comes our way this month. Sam Gammon and the crew at Victory Sports always put on a top notch show and the Top Gun Showdown is by far their biggest event of the year. Muddy Creek is one of the most renowned facilities in the country and we always love the opportunity to head up to the Tennessee Mountains. and cover one of the biggest events the east coast has to offer. If you haven’t put this one on your calendar do yourself a favor and do so now. The event is being held October 14-16 and Vurb will be on site covering the entire weekend.
On a side note we’ve also spanned the Vurb contributor force out to cover even more events this month. Christina Stickel will be on site this coming weekend for Round 4
of the Gold Cup Series at Sunshine in Florida and our man Ryan King will be hitting up Swan and a few other Texas rounds this month. Texas is one state that we’ve always had trouble covering, but with the help of King and some others you expect to see a lot more coverage out of the Lone Star state in the coming months.
Oh, don’t forget to continue logging on this week for updates from the Dodge Amateur National in Sacramento, California where John Parkinson is on site capturing all the media.
Aside from race coverage it’s all about 2010 here at Vurb. We’ve spent the last few months finalizing our media kit and will be heading out to California in the coming weeks to meet with some of our marketing partners (new and old). We’ve got another huge surprise coming your way in the coming months in the form of Vurb 2.5, but we’ll keep that one a secret a little while longer.
Thanks for reading.
