The Dodge Amateur National kicked off today at Hangtown, and as always seems to be the case in California, the weather was perfect for a long day of motos.  Despite a continuation of rough times around the country there are a lot of top amateurs here to battle it out for the coveted Dodge AMP title.  The dirt is perfect here and it looks like its going to be a good week of racing with nice weather and great track conditions.  Here are some highlights from the first day of motos.

Tyler Bereman did work today taking 2 moto wins and a second.  He looks to be on pace to grab a few titles this week.

Jeagher Lafountaine has come out of the woods and is showing that he is the real deal.  He stole a win from Bereman and finished right on his rear wheel in two others.  These three rides were not the impressive ones though; he really impressed when he got off to a mid-pack start and began picking guys off all the way to the finish.  On the white flag lap he took a gnarly line that no one had tried all day and pulled it off to pass two more riders to put him into 4th.  He now has this line in his back pocket and will bring it out if it’s needed.

Jessy Nelson had to be the favorite this week and he did take the win in the schoolboy class but ran into some bad luck in the B class when he went down in the first turn.  Nelson still put in a strong ride and worked his tail off to finish 4th in the moto.

Connor Pearson showed what he had in the 85 open class, he took the lead early and checked out from the rest of the pack.  He is looking like the Connor Pearson of old.

Tristan Miller he took a moto today and also led a few laps in the open class.  Miller runs the 85 7-11 class and it was nice to see him running up front in the open class, finishing in the top 5.

The name Brandon Scharer may sound unfamiliar now, but just give it some time. For if this kid keeps railing like he was on the opening day at Dodge he’s going to be a household name before you know it. He took the win in the 14-15 class and also gave Chris Alldredge a run for his money in the 85 open class.

Chris Alldredge looked strong as he took the victory in one of the divisions of the 85 open class.

We've heard of Morgan Burger in the past, but he made sure his name was at the top of our list of on Tuesday.  Burger showed a lot of speed and ran up front in every moto he entered.  Burger is on the gas and could very easily take some championships back to Idaho with him.
