UNSTOPPABLE FIOLEK

For the first time this year, Ashley Fiolek failed to get the holeshot as she was beaten to the line by the #3 bike of Sherri Cruse. Unfortunately for Cruse she went off the track a couple of turns later, letting Fiolek, Patterson and Price through.

Within a couple of straights the two Honda riders had pulled a pretty big gap on 3^rd place, as the rest of the field were all sorting themselves out.  After a couple of laps the battles were beginning to form with Fiolek and Patterson out front and Cruse and Golden about 10 seconds back. Just as everyone was preparing for another Fiolek/Patterson fight, Patterson crashed in the back section and couldn't restart the bike. Eventually she remounted in 15^th place but Fiolek and the rest were well out of sight.

So Fiolek would go onto take the win, Golden would overtake Cruse about three laps from the end for 2^nd place and Patterson amazingly had enough time to get all the way up to 4^th.

Normal service was resumed in moto two as Fiolek powered the Factory Honda across the holeshot line in first place, closely followed by Cruse and Patterson. JP soon overtook Cruse and went about closing down the gap to Fiolek just like in moto one. Unfortunately she also repeated her first race crash just as she was closing on her rival. This left her 10 seconds off the pace and meant the pair of them cruised round until the chequered flag.

Behind them Cruse and Golden had another battle which proved interesting as Golden was doing a lot more of the jumps but still struggled to get around as Cruse made her bike as wide as possible. It was a near-collision that ended the tussle as Golden almost landed on the Suzuki rider, causing her to veer off-track. After that moment Cruse pulled away and by taking the 3^rd place, she secured bottom step of the podium, joint on points with both Golden and Patterson.
