I've been in New Zealand a couple of days now, and to be brutally honest... I'm loving it. My sleep pattern didn't take too much of a beating after all the flying and the weather's been spot on (although it was raining on arrival).
After chilling for the rest of day one, I decided to go on a 30mile cycle ride to the beach and back. It was a reasonably sunny day so I figured I had to make the most of it. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that NZ doesn't have an Ozone layer, so didn't worry about sunblock. Mistake. I now have a pretty sweet farmer's tan going on, which is pretty annoying considering I'd managed to avoid one all summer in America.
Still, it was completely worth it as the scenery was just stunning...
After an eventful evening, I had my first experience of New Zealand motocross today as I headed to the Harrisville track, just south of where I'm staying in Pukekohe (pronounced Puc-ki-co-e). And as you can see from the bottom two pictures, it's a helluva setting for a motocross track. Tomorrow I head to Patetonga for the 3rd round of the New Zealand Nationals and while I have been told it isn't NZ's best track, I'm really looking forward to it.

Just needs a motocross track...
