The fourth round of the British MMX Championship took place at the Suffolk Circuit at Blaxhall. The weather was hot and sunny with the track being in great condition ahead of the racing. The meeting saw some of the sport's best National riders looking for glory.
After the morning qualifying sessions it was Martin Barr who took the pole position in the British Open Class and Scott Elderfield took the pole in the Under21's. The local support class was taken by Andrew Fisher.
In the first MMX Open race it was Scott Columb who took the holeshot while Martin Barr lay on the floor after a first corner crash which saw an end to his day's racing. Back at the front Kristian Whatley had moved into second as was chasing after Columb while having to hold off Brad Anderson. At the half way stage Anderson had moved into the lead followed by Whatley and local rider Carl Nunn moved into third pushing Columb back to fourth. The top 4 stayed in that order until the finish with Neville Bradshaw take fifth.
The second of the Open Class races saw Carl Nunn make a better start and lead the early laps of the race before being passed by Anderson and then by another local rider Elliot Banks-Browne. Elliot then took the lead from Anderson but this was to be short lived as Anderson and Banks-Browne had a coming together and Banks-Browne crashed out of the race. Anderson took the lead over and looked set for the win until a small crash handed the victory to Carl Nunn ahead of Anderson and Columb, with Bradshaw and Whatley rounding out the top 5.
In the first Under 21's race of the day it was Shane Carless who took the lead but it wasn't long before young Scott Elderfield took the lead and ran off with the race win. The battle was for second between Carless and Graeme Irwin. It was to be Carless that got the second position over Irwin with Richard Sandberg and Alan Keet rounding out the top 5.
The second race of Under 21's saw Scott Elderfield take the early race lead and never look back as he race on to take the race win. The battle for second saw Carless quickly move past Irwin to take second place. Irwin finished in third ahead of Sandberg and Alex Rockwell.
First race of the Support class and it was Liam Faiers who took the early race lead but it was Andrew Fisher that soon took over the lead and went on for race win. The second place went to Darren Murfitt and Sam Smith in third place. The fourth and fifth places went to James Potter and Matthew Hunt
The second support race saw Darren Murfitt take the lead on the second lap and hold it for the whole race but it didn't come easy as he was pushed to finish by James Potter on his 125 machine. The third place went to Sam Smith ahead of Matthew Hunt and Liam Faiers.
The third and final support race of the day saw a good battle between Andrew Fisher, James Potter, Ollie Stearn and Matthew Hunt as they pushed for the win. Stearn dropped out after a crash. At the finish it was Fisher with the win over Potter and Faiers, with Hunt and Murfitt rounding out the top 5.
