Wilson Rides for Canada

The Olympics of Motorcycling, the 63rd annual Motocross of Nations, takes place at the Autodromo Di Franciacorta, Brescia, Italy October 3-4, 2009.

The Canadian Motorcycle Association has announced Team Canada for 2009. Team Manager for the 6th year will be Chatsworth Ontario's Carl Bastedo. Vaughn Ontario's Andre Laurin has been appointed Assistant Team Manager.

Riding the #37 in the premiere MX1 class will be Ottawa's Tyler Medaglia. The 22 year old Medaglia rides an OTSFF Motorsport Suzuki 450F. Medaglia competed for Canada in the MX2 class in Great Britain at last years Nations event a week after winning the class at the Montreal Supercross. Medaglia is just getting back to form during this years Canadian National Championship Series after struggling with an old back injury at the start of the year. He currently sits in 7th place in the series and is expected to return to a podium position when the series moves east July 19.

Canada's entry in MX2 will feature the #38 of Dean Wilson. The Airdrie Alberta rider is the sensation of the U.S. National Amateur Circuit this year and will turn Pro after the U.S. Amateur National Championship at Lorettta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills Tennessee August 4-8. At 17 years of age Wilson will be the youngest rider to ever represent Canada at the Nations. He currently races a 250F Kawasaki for the California based Canidae Kawasaki. He recently competed in the first 3 rounds of Canada's National Series in Kamloops B.C., Edmonton and Calgary Alberta completely dominating the MX2 Class.

The #39 in MX3 will be ridden by Brookfield Nova Scotia's Mitchell Cooke. At 25 Cooke is the veteran of Team Canada in 2009 and is currently 3rd among the Canadians participating in the Canadian National Motocross Championship Series. Cooke has International experience competing, teaching and working with former World MX Champion George Jobe in Dubai during the off season for the last few years. He rides a 450F Kawasaki for Freedom Cycle in Halifax Nova Scotia.
