Growing up most kids dream of being a fireman, or a pro ball player, but for me, I knew at an early age that I wanted to be a sports journalist. I can still remember reading the sports page on the way to kindergarten and my mom giving me the nickname Howie after the great sportswriter/broadcaster Howard Cosell. Fast forward 21 years and my dream is slowly beginning to come true. After graduating from the College of Charleston last summer with a degree in Media Studies, I was ready to take the sports world by storm. Well, come to find out it’s a lot harder finding a job than I thought. But luckily I have an older brother that just happens to run a motocross website and lets me contribute from time to time.

A couple of weeks back I was approached by the afore mentioned older brother about having a bigger role within the company. Before he could even finish I jumped in with an emphatic YES!! Usually the integration period takes a couple of weeks or months, but the company landed a big deal that is top secret as of now so I can’t go into detail. But basically he need to concentrate on that so he handed myself and Kaelyn Sheedy the task of running the day to day operations of Vurb for the month of April. Basically we are guest editors for the month of April, so we decided I would keep a weekly blog giving our readers an in-depth look at how Kaelyn and I are handling the pressure of running Vurb for a month.

We are a couple of days into our first week as guest editors and so far everything is running smoothly. We’ve put out an MIA, a Batting Average from Oak Hill, an I-Chat and much more. We got Andrew Campo, John Parkinson, Ryan Walters, Fat J and Brian Wilkinson out in Sin City bringing you all the action from the World Mini’s. We’ll also be brining you your daily appetizers of everything Vurb and of course all the amateur motocross news you can stomach.

With a great opportunity like this also comes an enormous amount of pressure. So while I couldn’t be happier to take on the challenge of being guest editor there is also the pressure of living up to what has taken years to accomplish. Although the pressure can sometimes be overbearing I know Kaelyn and I have the will and dedication to do everything in our power to keep this great site going. But most of all I hope that we can bring all of our readers the best coverage of amateur motocross in the country.

Until next time………………………..
